Passive Aggressive Novelty Company (PANoCo) makes performances that counterpoint the over-storied, over-commercialized "reality" of contemporary life. Misappropriating the diverse grammars of art-making - dance, theatre, music, film, poetry - the work shuns the shallow comfort of narrative, in pursuit of a deeper poetry of experience. Audiences are asked to slow down, open up, and take nothing for granted.
In addition to sharing original performances, PANoCo is also actively involved in helping others explore the process of creation, leading workshops and residencies with students of all ages and backgrounds. Like the work itself, the goal is to challenge participants’ expectations of what a performance can be, with a focus on discovering unique connections between form and content.
